Berlin ± Panic DESCRIPTION:Projekt Illusive regimes umjetničkog dvojca Sz. Berlin ± Panic predstavlja se site-specific izvedbom video radova u prostoru industrijsk og kompleksa Pijacala (pored Šohta) u srijedu\, 29. srpnja\, u 21 sat u or ganizaciji Gradske galerije Labin.\nU drugom dijelu DJ session programa\, kolektivu Sz. Berlin ± Panic (koji nastupaju kao DJ Codex Europa i DJ Pani c) pridružuje se DJ Maski\, voditelj radionica projekta DJ radionice Kluba mladih DKC-a Lamparna.\n\nO PROJEKTU\nInternacionalni multimedijalni kole ktiv Sz. Berlin ± Panic\, nosi združeni naziv umjetničkih imena dvojca koj i ga sačinjava. Pravim imenom Alexei Monroe (Sz. Berlin) i Nikola Panic (P anic)\, kroz vlastita umjetničko-znanstvena istraživanja proučavaju arhite ktonske relikte nekadašnjih sustava i svojevrsne biljege koje mijenama pol itičkih i socioloških odrednica zadobivaju. Modernističku industrijsku arh itekturu dvojac promatra fascinacijom njene monumentalnosti\, ali i simbol ičkom vrijednosti složenosti (ne)vidljivih društveno-političkih odnosa koj i se kroz nju preslikavaju. Njihove refleksije progovaraju o tihom postoja nju objekata koji su nekoć tvorili pokretačku srž industrijske sile ovih p rostora prošloga stoljeća. Osvrćući se kroz političke sustave kojima su pr ipadali i koji su ih za vlastite potrebe izgradili\, a generacije lokalnih ili doseljenih radnika održavali živima\, umjetnici stvaraju multimedijal ne uratke kompilacijom arhivske građe i/ili in situ snimaka koji vode kroz supostojeću prošlost i sadašnjost utkanu u zdanjima. Sz. Berlin ± Panic u fokus postavljaju nezamijećene pragmatične strukture poput tvorničkih hal a\, elektrana i pogona kao žila kucavica industrijske proizvodnje i održav anja sustava\, ali i postali posredni dionici aktivnog stvaranja današnjeg sociološkog identiteta određenog teritorija.\n\nProjekt Illusive Regimes povezuje dva video rada usmjerena na industrijsku arhitekturu šireg labins kog područja za fašističkog razdoblja. Dvije industrijske građevine podign ute unutar jednog desetljeća čine zasebne protagoniste dvaju radova naziva Degeneracija [TEV 24] (koji obrađuje elektranu Vlaška smještenu u Raškoj dolini) i Regeneracija [RGN 26] (koji tematizira elektranu rudarskog postr ojenja u Ripendi).\nNa labinskom će se predstavljanju dodatno prikazati vi deo rad Iluminacija [BGD-25] o beogradskoj elektrani Snaga i Svetlost.\n\n \nTakođer\, projekt će se predstaviti suradničkom izložbom u Kulturno-inf ormativnom centru (KIC) u Zagrebu u drugom dijelu godine. Kustosica projek ta je Stephanie Peršić.\n\nProduciranje i izvedbu projekta podržali su Gra d Labin i Ministarstvo kulture i medija Republike Hrvatske. Podršku u real izaciji događaja pružili su Sonolux\, DKC Lamparna i obrt Kire.\n\nO KOLEK TIVU\n\nSz. Berlin ± Panic\n\npredstavlja audio-vizualnu suradnju između u mjetnika Sz. Berlina (situiranom u Labinu) i londonskog filmaša Panica. Od 2022. godine intenzivno dokumentiraju industrijske ruševine na području I stre i Kvarnera. Njihovi su video radovi do sada prikazani na izložbama u Burren College of Art\, DKC Lamparni (Labin) i Galeriji Novo (Pula).\nGodi ne 2024. predstavili su audiovizualnu Trilogiju raspadanja – alkemični aud iovizualni odgovor na tri napuštena lokaliteta u Hrvatskoj. Trilogija se t emelji na snimanjima na lokacijama u Plomin Luci\, Vlaškoj i Rijeci. U fil movima i njihovim zvučnim zapisima termoelektrana\, željeznički depo i pos trojenje za separaciju ugljena nakratko su oživljeni. Radovi ih transformi raju iz mrtvih industrijskih pogona u nove "oživljene" postindustrijske po gone.\nFilm o Vlaškoj\, Degeneracija [TEV 24]\, prikazan je na projekcijam a koje je organizirala Embryogallery u New Yorku i Ciudad de Méxicu u jese n 2024.\, te je uključen u skupnu izložbu u kustostvu Embryogallery\, T.F. I.D. Berlin ± Panic will be presented through a site-spec ific screening of video works at the Pijacal industrial complex\, next to the Šoht mining tower\, on Wednesday\, 29 July\, at 9 p.m.\n\nIn the secon d part of the programme\, Sz. Berlin ± Panic\, performing as DJ Codex Euro pa and DJ Panic\, will be joined for a DJ session by DJ Maski\, who leads the DJ Workshops project of the DKC Lamparna Youth Club.\n\n\nABOUT THE PR OJECT\nThe international multimedia collective Sz. Berlin ± Panic takes it s name from the combined artistic names of its two members. Alexei Monroe\ , who works as Sz. Berlin\, and Nikola Panic\, who works as Panic\, use th eir respective artistic and scholarly research practices to examine the ar chitectural relics of former systems and the particular traces imprinted u pon them by shifting political and social circumstances.\nThe duo approach es modernist industrial architecture with a fascination for both its monum entality and its symbolic embodiment of the complex\, sometimes invisible\ , socio-political relations reflected through it. Their work addresses the quiet persistence of structures that once formed the driving core of the industrial power of this region during the previous century.\nReflecting o n the political systems to which these buildings belonged and which constr ucted them for their own purposes\, as well as on the generations of local and migrant workers who kept them alive\, the artists create multimedia w orks by combining archival material and/or in situ footage. These works gu ide the viewer through the coexisting past and present embedded within the structures themselves.\nSz. Berlin ± Panic focus on frequently overlooked utilitarian structures\, such as factory halls\, power stations and indus trial plants\, which served as the arteries of industrial production and s ustained the wider system. At the same time\, these structures became indi rect participants in the active formation of the present-day social identi ty of a particular territory.\n\nThe Illusive Regimes project brings toget her two video works focusing on the industrial architecture of the wider L abin area during the Fascist period. Two industrial structures built withi n the same decade become the respective protagonists of Degeneration [TEV- 24]\, which examines the Vlaška power station in the Raša Valley\, and Reg eneration [RGN-26]\, which focuses on the power station of the mining comp lex in Ripenda.\nThe presentation in Labin will also include the video wor k Illumination [BGD-25]\, dedicated to the Snaga i Svetlost power station in Belgrade.\n\nThe project will also be presented later this year through a collaborative exhibition at the Cultural and Information Centre (KIC) i n Zagreb. The project is curated by Stephanie Peršić.\n\nThe production an d presentation of the project have been supported by the City of Labin and the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia. Realisation of the event has been supported by Sonolux group\, DKC Lamparna and Kire interpreneuring.\n\nABOUT THE COLLECTIVE\n\nSz. Berlin ± Panic\n\nSz. Berl in ± Panic is an audiovisual collaboration between Labin-based artist Sz. Berlin and London-based filmmaker Panic. Since 2022\, they have been exten sively documenting industrial ruins throughout Istria and the Kvarner regi on. Their video works have so far been presented at the Burren College of Art\, DKC Lamparna in Labin and Novo Gallery in Pula.\nIn 2024\, they pres ented the audiovisual Trilogy of Decay\, an alchemical audiovisual respons e to three abandoned sites in Croatia. The trilogy is based on footage rec orded on location in Plomin Luka\, Vlaška and Rijeka. In the films and the ir soundtracks\, a thermal power station\, a railway depot and a coal-sepa ration plant are briefly brought back to life. The works transform them fr om defunct industrial facilities into newly reanimated post-industrial pla nts.\nThe film about Vlaška\, Degeneration [TEV-24]\, was presented at scr eenings organised by Embryogallery in New York and Mexico City in autumn 2 024. It was also included in T.F.I.D.
